20 percent of all nonprofit services are funded by private entities--mainly individual donors and foundations. From the Gold Rush to the last Web 2.0 ventures, philanthropists have refined their approach to giving. The current generation of donors places the emphasis on the targeted use of wealth toward systemic change to address specific issues while providing expertise, building capacity, and rewarding effective results.

This panel discussion from Bridging the Gap, the Stanford 2005 Net Impact Conference organized by Stanford Graduate School of Business, highlights the philosophy of three young, but outstanding organizations in the strategic philanthropic field.

Panelists include:

  • Christine Kawakami Edmunds, The Roberts Enterprise Development Fund, REDF
  • Russ Hall, co-Founder, Legacy Venture
  • Sally Osberg, CEO and President, Skoll Foundation
