In the world of social enterprise, the Opportunity Finance Network is the leading hub identifying and investing in opportunities to benefit low-income and low-wealth people in the United States. In this audio interview with Stanford Center for Social Innovation correspondent Sheela Sethuraman, CEO Mark Pinsky talks about what his organization does and how it supports community development financial institutions in making social improvements in urban, rural, and reservation-based markets.
Mark Pinsky is president and chief executive officer of Opportunity Finance Network, the national network of high-performing community development finance institutions. He joined the organization in 1995. During his tenure, the CDFI industry has grown more than 10-fold while Opportunity Finance Network has expanded membership more than 400% and assets more than 1,500%. Under his leadership, the organization has introduced several innovative products and is leading the industry on policy, as well. Pinsky speaks often to diverse audiences about the past, present, and future of the opportunity finance field and its ability to transform mainstream financial systems. He writes about the industry for a wide range of publications and has published five books.
